Lesbian Travel (8): Two superhot stories of Sapphic desire Rivera, Paris Amaldio Books, 2023
Two superhot stories of Sapphic desire: Vampire Lake and Watching Carmella. Vampire Lake (“Loved this.” “Fun and very hot.” “Fantastic storyline”) When Mrs Baker (34) takes the overnight train from Chicago to the Rocky Mountains, she finds she is sharing a compartment with a beautiful young woman with pale skin, an elegant body, dark hair and shades that the mysterious stranger seems very reluctant to remove. The two women talk but the atmosphere cools quickly and Mrs Baker retires to the top bunk. Waking to the moonlight at midnight, she hears the sound of small moans coming from the bed below her. She dares to look over and finds this beautiful young woman with her eyes closed, her covers thrown off to reveal a gorgeous body in bright white bra and panties, and her fingers intruding into the thin white cotton at the base of her belly. The young woman looks up and smiles. Do her teeth look just a little bit sharp? Can the older woman resist that dazzling smile, the fire in those fierce green eyes, or the lure of those soft, high moans? If Mrs Baker succumbs, it will surely be a path of great passion – and danger... Watching Carmella fills you in on the Olympic events you won’t see on television. Find out what happens when green-eyed Coach Hernandez is charged with being chaperone to the gorgeous, young Latin hockey star Carmella. “She really knows how to pen the steam and capture moments for you to enjoy!”

这样的爱拖一天是错一天 = Such dragged-on love is wrong 亦舒 (Yi Shu) CNPIEC, Beijing, 2008
(Do you still remember Yi Shu's stories? Beautiful writing style and tranquil stories bring about love shock to us. Love in her stories is not so simple and it covers too much helplessness and pathos in life. A touch of heartache that approaches with the passage of time is lingering between lines. Characters in her stories seem to be beside us or they are ourselves. Seeing through all things in the world, we feel that those things will vanish. Yi Shu's new classics includes six new books with this book included. Each book itself is a world of romantic feelings.)

On the Move for Love: Migrant Entertainers and the U.S. Military in South Korea (Pennsylvania Studies in Human Rights) Sealing Cheng University of Pennsylvania Press, Pennsylvania Studies in Human Rights, 2011
Since the Korean War, __gijichon__—U.S. military camp towns—have been fixtures in South Korea. The most popular entertainment venues in __gijichon__ are clubs, attracting military clientele with duty-free alcohol, music, shows, and women entertainers. In the 1990s, South Korea's rapid economic advancement, combined with the stigma and low pay attached to this work, led to a shortage of Korean women willing to serve American soldiers. Club owners brought in cheap labor, predominantly from the Philippines and ex-Soviet states, to fill the vacancies left by Korean women. The increasing presence of foreign workers has precipitated new conversations about modernity, nationalism, ethnicity, and human rights in South Korea. International NGOs, feminists, and media reports have identified women migrant entertainers as "victims of sex trafficking," insisting that their plight is one of forced prostitution. Are women who travel to work in such clubs victims of trafficking, sex slaves, or simply migrant women? How do these women understand their own experiences? Is antitrafficking activism helpful in protecting them? In __On the Move for Love__, Sealing Cheng attempts to answer these questions by following the lives of migrant Filipina entertainers working in various __gijichon__ clubs. Focusing on their aspirations for love and a better future, Cheng's ethnography illuminates the complex relationships these women form with their employers, customer-boyfriends, and families. She offers an insightful critique of antitrafficking discourses, pointing to the inadequacy of recognizing women only as victims and ignoring their agency and aspirations. Cheng analyzes the women's experience in South Korea in relation to their subsequent journeys to other countries, providing a diachronic look at the way migrant issues of work, sex, and love fit within the larger context of transnationalism, identity, and global hierarchies of inequality.

Would you like to stop being the narcissist's punching bag and regain the respect that you deserve? Do you tend to attract abusive people that take advantage of you? Are you left conflicted and confused after the relationship falls apart? It's a fact that the narcissist in your life doesn't care about you. Realizing that you are in an abusive relationship can be a difficult challenge for anyone to face. Luckily, you are not alone in this journey. There are important tools needed for this process to help you understand what has happened, cope with the trauma, and move on from narcissism in toxic relationships. The definition of narcissistic abuse implies that you've been a victim of verbal abuse, manipulation, gaslighting, exploitation, subjugation, neglect, isolation, or even violence, and reading this book will greatly benefit you! In Narcissist Abuse Recovery, you will learn how to break free of your abuser, get through the recovery process, and form meaningful relationships in the future.

zlib/no-category/Mike Africa Jr./On a Move: Philadelphia's Notorious Bombing and a Native Son's Lifelong Battle for Justice_29463142.mobi
On a Move: Philadelphia's Notorious Bombing and a Native Son's Lifelong Battle for Justice Mike Africa. Jr. HarperCollins Publishers, PT, 2024
The incredible story of MOVE, the revolutionary Black civil liberties group that Philadelphia police bombed in 1985, killing 11 civilians—by one of the few people born into the organization, raised during the bombing's tumultuous aftermath, and entrusted with repairing what was left of his family."As necessary and powerful as it is captivating." – Michael Harriot, New York Times bestselling author of Black AF History"Searing and urgent." – Bakari Sellers, New York Times bestselling author of My Vanishing Country and The MomentBefore police dropped a bomb on a residential neighborhood on May 13, 1985, few people outside Philadelphia were aware that a Black-led civil liberties organization had taken root there. Founded in 1972 by a charismatic ideologue called John Africa, MOVE’s mission was to protect all forms of life from systemic oppression. They drew their ideology from the Black Panther Party and pre-dated animal and environmental rights groups like PETA and Earth First. MOVE emerged in an era when Black Philadelphians suffered under devastating policies brought by the long, doomed war in Vietnam, Mayor Frank Rizzo’s overtly racist police surveillance, and, eventually, President Ronald Reagan's War on Drugs. MOVE members lived together in a collection of West Philadelphia row houses and took the surname Africa out of admiration for the group's founder. But in MOVE's lifestyle, city officials saw threats to their status quo. Their bombing of MOVE homes shocked the nation and made international news. Eleven people were killed, including five children. And the City of Brotherly Love became known as the City That Bombed Itself.Among the children most affected by the bombing was Mike Africa Jr. Born in jail following a police attack on MOVE that led to his parents’ decades-long incarcerations, Mike was six years old and living with his grandmother when MOVE was bombed. In the ensuing years, Mike sought purpose in the ashes left behind. He began learning about the law as a teenager and became adept at speaking and inspiring public support with the help of other MOVE members. In 2018, at age 40, he finally succeeded in getting his parents released from prison. On a Move is one of the most unimaginable stories of injustice and resilience in recent American history. But it is not only one of tragedy. It is about coming-of-age for a young activist, the strong ties of family, and, against all odds, learning how to take indignities on the chin and to work within the very system that created them. At once a harrowing personal account and an impassioned examination of racism and police violence, On a Move testifies to the power of love and hope, in the face of astonishing wrongdoing.Review"The bombing of the MOVE headquarters is one of many events that still haunt Black America's memories but has largely been whitewashed from our public consciousness. On a Move unerases this story with powerful storytelling, detailed research and a personal perspective that combines personal and historical context. It is as necessary and powerful as it is captivating." — Michael Harriot, New York Times bestselling author of Black AF History" On A Move is the stunning, insider’s account of the day Philadelphia officials firebombed a Black neighborhood, and it is the portrait of a family and a movement that went up in flames. As a child of the radical liberation organization MOVE, Mike Africa Jr. has the unique ability to blend memory, empathy, and reportage. This book is a reminder that history lives and breathes." — Antonia Hylton, New York Times bestselling author of Madness " On a Move is a powerful and important book that dares us to remember and to reckon with our nation's past. Sometimes we forget that children were present in that horrific bombing on Osage Avenue in Philadelphia all those years ago. Finally, we have the story of MOVE and of the terrible moment, from someone who grew up in it all. At times bewildering and surprising, I could not put this book down!" — Eddie Glaude, New York Times bestselling author of Begin Again"The bombing was an unthinkable act, thought out and executed with reckless abandon. Now, in this searing and urgent new book, Mike Africa Jr. fearlessly tells the true story of what happened that fateful day, why the MOVE organization was formed, and how overpolicing and underfunding communities can end in inevitable tragedy." — Bakari Sellers, New York Times bestselling author of My Vanishing Country and The Moment"It has been quite some time since a book held me captive. On a Move is such a book. It’s a riveting and inspirational read, and also a healing journey that is not for the faint of heart. Mike Africa Jr.’s voice is on full blast from start to finish, setting the record straight with candor and eloquence. May the captivating power of his truth, so deftly woven within these pages, shatter the chains that have bound his loved ones within the System for too long." — Dame Lisa Simone, award-winning executive producer, actress and entertainer"I remember the MOVE bombing like it happened last night. I heard the loud boom and saw black smoke all over the streets. Pure chaos. I was ashamed to call myself a Philadelphian. I'm thrilled that the story of MOVE is finally being told. Mike Africa Jr. has put on the page what only a few people have known – and what I hope nobody ever forgets.” — Charlie Mack, film producer and Philadelphia legend"Everyone should know what happened to MOVE." — Ahmir "Questlove" Thompson, about the MOVE bombing"Your story can change people's lives." — Common, on Mike Africa Jr."Free at last!" — Tina Knowles, when Mike's parents were released from prison" On a Move represents in equal parts a total failure of the system and a triumph of the human spirit." — Tommy Oliver, filmmaker"From the moment Mike Africa Jr. took his first newborn breath in a jail cell, his inspirational journey as legacy member of the MOVE family has been a reckoning of what it means to be an American; a boy from Philly; a modern-day David; a rose in the concrete; and a man determined to liberate himself, everyone he loves, and be truly free. With candor and self-awareness, Mike shares his compelling story of struggle and perseverance, and demonstrates love as an impelling force of unwavering dedication to family, truth, and justice." — Jana Babatunde-Bey, media executive, film/television producer, and philanthropist"Passionate and unflinching.... With its insightful and nuanced musings on legacy and activism, this impactful memoir isn’t easily forgotten." — Publishers Weekly"An insider’s account of the Black communal movement that drew the ire—and the firebombs—of the Philadelphia police.... A memorable portrait of a little-understood movement and its founders." — Kirkus ReviewsAbout the AuthorMike Africa Jr. is a sought-after speaker and writer who has been featured in The New York Times , The Washington Post , The Guardian and on NPR.
With its insightful and nuanced musings on legacy and activism, this impactful memoir isn’t easily forgotten." — Publishers Weekly"An insider’s account of the Black communal movement that drew the ire—and the firebombs—of the Philadelphia police.... lgli/Oliver Sacks - On the Move: A Life (2015, ).mobi
On the move : a life Oliver Sacks Knopf, 2015
**A New York Times Notable BookOne of the Best Books of the Year: NPR, San Francisco Chronicle, St. Louis Post-Dispatch, BookPage, Slate, *Men’s Journal***When Oliver Sacks was twelve years old, a perceptive schoolmaster wrote: “Sacks will go far, if he does not go too far.” It is now abundantly clear that Sacks has never stopped going. With unbridled honesty and humor, Sacks writes about the passions that have driven his life—from motorcycles and weight lifting to neurology and poetry. He writes about his love affairs, both romantic and intellectual; his guilt over leaving his family to come to America; his bond with his schizophrenic brother; and the writers and scientists—W. H. Auden, Gerald M. Edelman, Francis Crick—who have influenced his work. On the Move is the story of a brilliantly unconventional physician and writer, a man who has illuminated the many ways that the brain makes us human. **Amazon.com Review An Amazon Best Book of May 2015: Oliver Sacks’ On the Move is a disarming book. His honesty, energy, and clear restlessness illuminate each page, drawing the reader in to a life of great achievement in spite of some hurdles. The highest of those hurdles may have been his difficulty with romantic love. The origin of that difficulty can be traced to his mother’s severe reaction upon learning that he was gay: she called him “an abomination.” Sacks forgave his mother for that, even if he couldn’t shake her words. His solution appears to have been just to move on and keep moving—and the entire book is imbued with a sense of movement. This can be seen in his love of motorcycles and weight lifting, in his desire to travel, in his move from England to the United States, and even when he writes of his former addiction to amphetamines. Of course his mind was moving at all times as well, and in this book Sacks continues to write convincingly about the ways our minds make us human. Despite claiming shyness, Sacks amassed an impressive list of friends and acquaintances—from the poets Thom Gunn, Richard Selig, and W.H. Auden, to Francis Crick and Stephen Jay Gould, to Robert De Niro and Robin Williams. And there was always the writing. “I am a storyteller, for better and for worse,” he writes at the end of the book. When I read that line, I realized that I felt like he was sitting in the same room with me. -- Chris SchluepReview“Intimate. . . . Brim[s] with life and affection.” —The New York Times“[A] wonderful memoir, which richly demonstrates what an extraordinary life it has been. . . . A fascinating account—a sort of extended case study, really—of Sacks’ remarkably active, iconoclastic adulthood.” —Los Angeles Times“A glorious memoir. . . . In this volume Sacks opens himself to recognition, much as he has opened the lives of others to being recognized in their fullness.” —The Atlantic“Pulses with his distinctive energy and curiosity.” —***The New York Review of Books“A beautiful vision, one that embraces an infinite spectrum of wonder. . . . On the Move illustrates what an exceptional human being he is. . . . He is fascinated by seemingly everything, and, damn, the man can write.” —Salon“Marvelous. . . . He studies himself as he has studied others: compassionately, unblinkingly, intelligently, acceptingly and honestly.” —The Wall Street Journal“Sacks’ ability to enact and celebrate intuition in medicine and precision in art is singular.” —The New York Times Book Review*“[Sacks is] a wonderful storyteller. . . . It’s his keen attentiveness as a listener and observer, and his insatiable curiosity, that makes his work so powerful.” —San Francisco Chronicle“Remarkably candid and deeply affecting. . . . Sacks’s empathy and intellectual curiosity, his delight in, as he calls it, ‘joining particulars with generalities’ and, especially, ‘narratives with neuroscience’—have never been more evident than in his beautifully conceived new book.” —The Boston Globe“Intriguing. . . . When describing his patients and their problems, he is attentive and precise, straightforward and sympathetic, and he brings these worthy qualities to his descriptions of his younger self.” —The Washington Post* “A compelling read. . . . Offers a glimpse into one of the greatest minds of our time.” —Men’s Journal“What a self this book reveals! A man animated by boundless curiosity, wide-ranging intelligence, gratitude for flawed humanity, perseverance despite setbacks. . . . We’re lucky to have all the books, including On the Move. It’s intensely, beautifully, incandescently alive.” —Newsday“An ebullient telling of a remarkable life.” —Paste “This remarkable man lifts us all. . . . [On the Move] is not only a record of his life-affirming characterological extravagance but also a meditation on what it is to be human in an age of medical arrogance and the numbing clout of technology.” —The Los Angeles Review of Books“An unforgettably passionate, joyous journey.” —The Daily Beast“[A] beautifully constructed and moving memoir. . . . His life and work are a gift.” —The Times Literary Supplement (London)“Moving. . . . Written with exceptional grace and clarity.” —Richmond Times-Dispatch***

Jacob:I used to be “the man.” The guy everyone admired. I could take any team in any game scenario and score the impossible winning touchdown. Now, I spend more time on the sideline in a baseball cap than in my helmet. I thought it was bad when the team wanted to push me closer to retirement by setting me up to mentor some of the younger guys. That was before they decided to use me in a publicity stunt! The only reason I agreed to do this promotional tour is because the woman in charge of it, the new owner’s daughter. She’s funny, smart, gorgeous, and too damn young for me, but I can’t stay away. Instead of feeling old and irrelevant, when I’m with her I think I could rule the world. If only they’d let me.Maris:My father has never taken me seriously. I’m sure not why he bothered to send me to school if he had no intention of bringing me into the business. When he bought a football team, I decided it was now or never. Armed with my legion of social media followers, I decided to make enough noise that he’d have to see me.My plan didn’t include the hot, older guy who’s been tasked with personifying the team’s public image. Moody, sullen, and aloof, he didn’t seem to want the job. But I’m glad he’s on this promo tour with me. I can’t stop thinking about him, and I know I should really stay away. But once we’re on the road, all bets are off!HUT, HUT, HIKE!Join some of your favorite romance authors as we take to the field to celebrate one of the greatest games in the world. Whether they meet on the field, in the press box, or by literally running into each other, our heroes and heroines will find themselves calling an audible to guarantee they score their very own happy ending. Each short and steamy story promises a happily ever after that guarantees you’ll be dreaming of touchdowns and championship rings in the end zone.

A is for asylum seeker : words for people on the move = A de asilo : palabras para personas en movimiento Rachel Ida Buff, Alejandra Oliva Fordham University Press, Fordham University Press, New York, 2020
A clear and concise A-to-Z of keywords that echo our current human rights crisisAs millions are forced to leave their nations of origin as a result of political, economic, and environmental peril, rising racism and xenophobia have led to increasingly harsh policies. A mass-mediated political circus obscures both histories of migration and longstanding definitions of words for people on the move, fomenting widespread linguistic confusion. Under this circus tent, there is no regard for history, legal advocacy, or jurisprudence. Yet in a world where the differences between “undocumented migrant” and “asylum seeker” can mean life or death, words have weighty consequences. A timely antidote to this circus, A is for Asylum Seeker reframes key words that describe people on the move. Written to correct the de-meaning of terms by rhetoric and policies based on dehumanization and profitable incarceration, this glossary provides an intersectional and historically grounded consideration of the words deployed in enflamed debate. Skipping some letters of the alphabet while repeating others, thirty terms cover everything from Asylum-seeker to Zero Tolerance Policy. Each entry begins with a contemporary or historical story for illustration and then proceeds to discuss the language politics of the word. The book balances terms affected by current political debates—such as “migrant,” “refugee,” and “illegal alien”—and terms that offer historical context to these controversies, such as “fugitive,” “unhoused,” and “vagrant.”Rendered in both English and Spanish, this book offers a unique perspective on the journeys, histories, challenges, and aspirations of people on the move. Enhancing the book's utility as an educational and organizing resource, the author provides a list of works for further reading as well as a directory of immigration-advocacy organizations throughout the United States.•••••Un claro y breve abecedario de palabras clave que hacen eco en nuestra crisis humanitaria presente.

On the Move for Love: Migrant Entertainers and the U.S. Military in South Korea (Pennsylvania Studies in Human Rights) Cheng, Sealing University of Pennsylvania Press, Inc., Pennsylvania studies in human rights, Philadelphia, 2013
Winner of the 2012 Distinguished Book Award from the American Sociological Association, Sociology of Sexualities Section Since the Korean War, gijichon U.S. military camp townshave been fixtures in South Korea. The most popular entertainment venues in gijichon are clubs, attracting military clientele with duty-free alcohol, music, shows, and women entertainers. In On the Move for Love , Sealing Cheng attempts to answer these questions by following the lives of migrant Filipina entertainers working in various gijichon clubs.
