This is a book of 36 projects for every room in the house, as well as for the garage and garden. Any fairly competent home handyman will tackle these projects with enthusiasm, but if questions arise, there's a special technical section that provides a brushup course in carpentry, drywall, flooring, masonry and tiling. Constructed of regular dimensioned lumber, the beams are fastened to plates supported by ceiling joists. Or why not build a media cabinet and keep all your electronic equipment neatly in one place? Or a room divider for defining an area? This striking piece has open illuminated glass shelves and base cabinets for storage. The bathroom can be improved with a whirlpool bath that massages stiff muscles and aids relaxation. You'll learn how to install the bath itself, construct the frame that surrounds it and cover it with tiles. Among the garden projects are a free-form deck built in different levels that extends living space into the garden, and a brick barbecue with a drop-in unit that serves as a grill, a spit, a griddle and a smoker. To help you get organized in the garage and basement, there are easy projects for over-the-hood and vertical storage, and a tool organizer with a large, wall-mounted cabinet above a chest of drawers.
