备用描述
Ho (language and curriculum, China Institute in New York City) presents a beginner's guide for adults and travelers wishing to learn Mandarin Chinese. Through ten lessons Ho presents the most basic and crucial words and patterns to enable students to begin talking and communicating without being overly focused on the complexities of grammar and vocabulary. The text includes a written guide to pronunciation, but has no companion audio tape or CD. Some aspects of the language (e.g. the importance of tonality in Chinese) may be challenging for a novice language learner without the benefit of an audio aid. No subject index. Annotation c.
