Okay, forget that last one. And then there's the odd couple who make up the JD Investigations workforce. Step forward Jack Davidson and Annie James. One a middle-aged, resolutely old-school former detective with Glasgow CID and the other, a twenty-four year old part-time technology student and full-time control freak. From different generations and with nothing obvious in common, fate threw them together in 'Fire in the Blood,' the first instalment of their adventures. Annie's aunt Peggie, the formidable Glasgow cougar who rules over the Royal Bar, thinks she has the perfect answer for what ails Jack and recommends that he explores online dating, to try and entice him back into the world. Trying to get to grips with the unwritten rules and etiquette of internet dating in the twenty-first century provides the perfect distraction for Jack. And the final step in his recovery comes courtesy of an epic drinking session and subsequent killer hangover, which provide a somewhat unorthodox, but highly effective, cure for his debilitating flashbacks and insomnia. With Jack now firmly back in the saddle at JD Investigations, the two partners attempt to track down a friend's iPhone, stolen in a vicious late night mugging. Then continuing in the so-called 'style-mile' of Scotland's largest city, they are called in by a swanky department store, which is losing high-end designer goods at an alarming rate to a sophisticated gang of shoplifters. Finally, through Henry Dunn, an old contact of Jack's who has a distinctly off-colour take on all things to do with Glasgow, the pair secure an apparently undemanding job providing close protection for a wealthy Edinburgh property developer. However, shortly after their arrival at the client's luxurious home, in Edinburgh's elegant New Town, things start to go rapidly downhill as they discover the extent of a campaign of intimidation and harassment being waged against their new employer. Their pleasant working holiday quickly morphs into a desperate fight for survival and a high-stakes murder investigation, with a violent unpredictable climax.words : 100537Auszeichnung : isbn searched

In life there are many examples of weird combos which really shouldn't work. But somehow, against all the odds, they do.
Think vodka shots laced with a dash of barbecue sauce, crispy bacon and strawberry jam toasties or rhubarb chunks dipped in curry powder. Okay, forget that last one. And then there's the odd couple who make up the JD Investigations workforce. Step forward Jack Davidson and Annie James.
