Booth surveys the struggles and achievements of women in Ohio, from pioneer times to the present, with b&w illustrations putting faces to the names. The survey format doesn't allow for much detail on any one woman, but readers will find this a satisfying history, one which shows the strength and endurance of Ohioan women. The histories of women are outlined in six areas: pioneer life, paid employment, suffrage and politics, charitable activities, culture, and religion and education. Booth teaches history at Kent State U.
