Sirrul-Khilafah is an Arabic treatise penned by the Promised Messiah(as)—Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad of Qadian—and published in July 1894. The book unveils the mystery surrounding Khilafah as the means by which the hidden hand of God dispels the darkness of an era and replaces fear with security for the Ummah. In such trying times, Allah raises a Khalifah and breathes into him the spirit to revive a nation against the impending threat of spiritual death. The book illustrates this through the example of Hazrat Abu Bakr(ra), who the Promised Messiah(as) refers to as the second Adam of Islam. When the darkness of dissension, hypocrisy and rebellion threatened the fledgling Muslim community, Abu Bakr(ra) rose to the occasion and re-established Muslim unity. A parallel scenario would act out in the Latter Days when the Promised Messiah(as) would arise as the last Adam for the last age, and would fight the forces of dissension to reunite the Muslim Ummah under one banner.

A tree is recognised by its fruit he states, and the fruits of Islam can be tasted by all even today. The author takes up the challenge of Dr Henry Martyn Clark to engage in a debate that he said would once and for all settle the differences between Christianity and Islam, and determine the superiority of one over the other – a debate dubbed ‘The Holy War’ by Dr Clark. The author presents copies of correspondence between Dr Clark and himself, as well as letters to and from the Muslims of Jandiala, who were to be represented in this debate. It also contains the conditions settled for the aforementioned debate and proclaims a prophecy regarding Muhammad Husain of Batala.

PUBLISHER'S NOTE "The Philosophy of the Teachings of Islam" is a well known essay on Islam by Hadhrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement in Islam. The original was written in order to be read at a Conference of Great Religions held at Lahore on December 26-29, 1896. It has since served as an introduction to Islam for seekers of religious knowledge and truth in different parts of the world. It deals with the following five broad themes set by the moderators of the Conference: 1. The physical, moral and spiritual states of man 2. What is the state of man after death? 3. The object of man's life and the means of its attainment, 4. The operation of the practical ordinances of the Law in this life and the next 5. Sources of Divine knowledge. It has been published widely in several languages in different countries. The present revised edition was translated by the late Sir Muhammad Zafrulla Khan with meticulous care and faithfulness to the original text which was lacking in previous English translations. Quranic references herein cite chapter and verse. In some renderings, the opening verse (i.e.: "Bismillah Al-Rahman Al-Rahim" - In the name of Allah - the Gracious - the Merciful) is not counted and readers using such editions should keep this point in mind to obtain the relevant reference.

INVITATION TO AHMADIYYAT Dawat al-Amir (English translation) Invitation to Ahmadiyyat was first published in Urdu in 1926, and then translated into Persian for presentation to the ruler of Afghanistan, Amanullah Khan. Two years or so before the book was compiled, three Afghan Ahmadis had been stoned to death by the orders of Amanullah Khan. These tragic events made it necessary that the message, aims and the rationale of the Ahmadiyya Movement should be expounded for the special attention of the king. The purpose of the book therefore was to convey to His Majesty an authentic account of the beliefs and doctrines of the Movement and the purpose of its establishment. It was also intended to refute the false charges that were made against the Movement by the orthodox divines and to contradict the baseless allegations made against the Movement. The events and the book now belong to history, but the book itself continues to grow in impact and influence. It sets out the prophecies of the Holy Prophet (peace be on him) mentioned in the books of Tradition and examines their true import. It presents an exposition of the claims of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement and details the reasons in their support. It goes on to establish, on the basis of the Holy Quran and the Traditions of the Holy Prophet (peace be on him) that the spiritual preceptor whose advent had been prophesied had already appeared in the person of the Founder of the Ahmadiyya Movement, and to emphasize that the salvation of mankind lies in accepting him and following him.

In 1895, Hazrat Mirza Ghulam Ahmad, initiated a periodical named Nurul-Qur’an (The Light of the Quran) to inform people of the truths of the Divine Word. He adopted the requirement that any claim or argument he presented in this journal would originate directly from the Noble Qur'an itself, so that people might know that the Holy Quran alone maintains the miraculous quality of articulating its claims as well as their corroboration. In Nurul-Qur’an–Number I, the Promised Messiah demonstrated that the Holy Quran has not only merely made a most emphatic claim regarding its Divine origin and the prophethood of the Holy Prophet, peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, but that it has also proven this claim with exceedingly powerful and strong arguments. These proofs are then set forth in detail in the first issue of the periodical. In Nurul-Qur’an–Number II, the Promised Messiah as expressed regret that this issue of Nurul-Qur’an had been written in rebuttal to a Christian missionary, Fateh Masih, who, instead of using civilized language, had employed abusive and sordid insults against the Holy Prophet, may the peace and blessings of Allah be upon him, and had falsely imputed such outright calumnies against him that a pure-hearted person would shudder upon hearing them. It was, therefore, solely to redress such foul-mouthed people that he was compelled to pay them back with their own coin. It had been the intent of the Promised Messiah to publish this periodical on a monthly basis but his busy schedule allowed only two issues to be published during his lifetime. Both these issues of Nurul-Qur’an, are now being published together for the first time.
